Sugar is a chemical substance in food that can be natural or artificial. Most people find food containing sugar very tasty! 


Types of sugars


There are two types of sugars: natural and added.


  • Some sugar occurs naturally in food and drinks, for example, fruits and natural juices. Foods with natural sugars are good because they give us energy. 
  • Some foods contain sugar that is added during preparation, for example, sweetened drinks and cakes. We should not eat too much of these sugars.
